We're Chevy Chase (He's Not)

People often wonder if the famous Comedian and Actor, Chevy Chase, is from our town--or more unlikely--if our town was named after him.  The answers to both of these assumptions is NO!  Our suburb opened for development in 1892, over fifty years before Cornelius Crane Chase, was born.  Supposedly, Cornelius was nicknamed "Chevy" by his grandmother (perhaps after our community?)
