We're Chevy Chase (He's Not)

People often wonder if Chevy Chase, the comedian and actor, is from Chevy Chase, or if our neighborhood was named after him.  The answer to both of these questions is no:  our suburb opened for development in 1892, over fifty years before Cornelius Crane Chase was born in New York City.  Cornelius' grandmother called him "Chevy" as a child--and the name stuck.
